Don't Look Down

This project was done in collaboration with the CS 498 course at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Manuel Hernandez in the Kinesiology & Community Health Department led this project to study gait using virtual reality. In this project we used Unity 3D, C#, and javascript to create an experience for participants resembling walking to the edge of a high cliff. This was designed to measure gait in older people in high-stress situations. The implications for this work are pretty incredible; there is potential to ameliorate and detect issues that people may have psychologically and physiologically by immersing them in VR environments rather than exposing participants to real-world physical (and potentially dangerous) stimuli.
